A woman was found dead inside her Hampshire home after her sister went to check on her when repeated calls went unanswered, according to prosecutors.
Authorities allege the victim’s boyfriend murdered her on December 28, 2023, following a relationship marked by jealousy, controlling behavior, and coercion. The victim’s sister discovered her deceased in a bedroom after arriving at the home and encountering the suspect near the top of the stairs.
Prosecutors told the court that the couple’s relationship had deteriorated in the weeks leading up to the woman’s death. They alleged the suspect became increasingly jealous of her male friends and colleagues, particularly after the failure of his business. The behavior reportedly worsened when he was under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Court proceedings revealed that the victim had recently asked the suspect to move out of the home and requested that they sleep in separate rooms while he arranged to leave. Prosecutors also cited previous incidents of alleged controlling behavior, including locking her out of the house, damaging her laptop, and reporting her missing when he could not locate her.
Family members testified that the victim had previously expressed concerns about the suspect’s behavior, describing him as controlling and unpredictable. Her sister also recounted an earlier incident in which the victim allegedly reported being strangled.
According to prosecutors, the suspect killed the woman just hours before her body was discovered. Rather than seeking medical assistance, they allege he left the residence on two occasions in an attempt to find sex workers in a nearby town.
A post-mortem examination further revealed evidence that the victim had been sexually assaulted, prosecutors said. The suspect has denied the allegations against him in court.
The case continues to move through the legal system as authorities seek justice for the victim and her grieving loved ones. Family members and friends continue to mourn the devastating loss of a woman whose life was tragically cut short.
